New database on textile trade available!

The BETHUNE database was created by Annik Adriaenssens (Ghent University) as part of her doctoral project.

Annik Adriaenssens meticulously collected details of the trade archives of the trading company Bethune & Fils. The database contains data on the company’s accounting as well as the almost complete bilateral correspondence of the company during the growth phase in the Ancien Regime and the crisis years after the French Revolution, in particular the period 1750-1800.
